It is a centre for winter skiing, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding. Guided tours available. Well worth a day trip.

Here you will see the soaring Spring Mountains on the western edge of Las Vegas Valley. The cool pine trees are a pleasant relief from the hot desert sun. For hikers the trailhead at the end of Kyle Canyon Road leads to several excellent hikes, including the nine-mile round trip climb to Charleston Peak. U.S Forest Service campgrounds are open May to October, weather permitting.

The vast wilderness of Mount Charleston is spread over a vast eithteen thousand acres of forest with trees such as pine and jniper being most populous. The terrain is generally cool in comparison to the desert which surrounds the mountain. Mount Charleston is a heaven for outdoor activities with hores riding, hill walking, mountain biking and camping among the many activities that are run here.
