Las Vegas is a real shopper’s paradise, with its brash unashamed
consumerist pitch. Here you will find almost anything you would
expect to see in London or Los Angelus, plus a whole lot you will
find nowhere else, like Ginger Rodger’s 7.02 carat marquis
diamond engagement ring or the world’s largest carved emerald,
both on display at Bellagio in Fred Leighton.
The Las Vegas Valley has over 30 million square feet of retail
space offering a staggering range of goods for sale. The Strip is
the heart of the shopping area, with upscale boutiques tending to
be located in the newer resorts along the southern half. The is
no need to wander outside of Las Vegas Blvd unless you are looking
for factory outlets or middleclass malls. Downtown and the Westside
are the areas to to look for naughty adult goods and trashy lingerie.
Maryland Parkwat, on the Eastside has dozens of record shops and
other hip stores catering to the college crowd.
Malls still dominate the scene, although many megaresorts also
have good-value speciality shops. Trendy one-off fashion boutiques
are scarce, but are beginning to open on the fringes of the Strip
as fashion tastes mature.
